Effect of Flocculant on Selective Flocculation
In order to make the ore particles in the state of suspension and dispersion, it is a common measure in practice to use mechanical stirring with certain strength to endow the ore particles with certain kinetic energy. However, in order to make the fine-grained mud in the slurry in a sufficient effective suspension state without coalescence, practice shows that adding a certain amount of dispersant is an effective basic measure. Because fine hematite is difficult to settle after full dispersion, it is necessary to add selective flocculant to flocculate hematite, and to keep other components fully dispersed. Different from ordinary flocculants, selective flocculants must not only have flocculation, but also have selectivity, otherwise they can not separate a mineral from a stable suspension, and the selectivity of flocculants is the key to selective flocculation.
With the development and application of selective flocculation process, flocculant has been used in ore dressing process, such as mineral sludge or treatment of colloidal minerals, fine particles or extremely fine embedded ores, and satisfactory results have been obtained. In most mineral processing processes, solid-liquid separation process is a relatively large cost. Adding flocculant in solid-liquid separation process can greatly reduce the equipment cost and precipitation time cost of sedimentation process, thus reducing the comprehensive cost of mineral processing mud precipitation.
