The experiment showed that the flocculation effect was best when the amount of polyaluminium chloride added was 5 g/100mL. The appropriate amount of flocculant can neutralize the surface charge, reduce the repulsion between particles, and make the floccules aggregate. The sedimentation time is best controlled at about 1 h. When the sedimentation reaches a certain time, the excess flocculant will be adsorbed on the surface of the destabilized particles, producing a “colloid protection” effect, causing the particles to stabilize again, thereby increasing the turbidity.
